Lisbon Drawings

On our first day here we picked up some basics for the house so we could have breakfast the next day. At the local Pingo Doce grocery store we were immediately struck by the numerous pumpkin-related products, including Abóbora com Noz (Pumpkin Jam with Walnuts).

Josie did this little watercolor of the jar we bought, which we’ve been enjoying most mornings ever since.

Josie is also a fan of pâtés, particularly chicken ones, so she was happy to find this frango (chicken) pâté as a store brand, no less. This is her watercolour as well.

On Saturday, I spent some time on our balcony attempting to draw the Graça viewpoint and church visible on the hill. Every hour on the hour the bells ring out, so if we keep our patio door open we always know what time it is.

This is the first time in many years I’ve drawn from real life rather than a photo. I only brought a sketchbook and some ink pens, but this could probably use some colour to make it more interesting.
